Liberty Lending Group: Debt Relief Loans

First Things First!

Remember – if I post a copy of any direct mail piece you email to e[email protected], I will send you $50. I am looking for direct mail offers with suspiciously low-interest rates. Just remember – I have to post the exact image you send me and I can only pay out the $50 to the first person who sends me a copy. I want to thank all of those who have been emailing me to keep the $50 and just continue with my good work.

Is Liberty Lending Group a legitimate company? You probably received a mailer with a personalized reservation code offering you a pre-approved loan with a below 5% interest rate to consolidate your credit card and other high-interest debt. And off you go looking for reviews.

Is it Legit or a Scam?

Liberty Lending Group is another bait and switch.

They lure you in by sending you direct mail with a “personalized reservation code” and a low 4%-5% interest rate to consolidate your high-interest credit card debt. Liberty Lending Group doesn’t tell you that you need excellent credit to qualify for a loan with that low-interest rate (which you have been supposedly pre-approved for).

Crixeo.com awarded Liberty Lending Group a 1-star rating (data collected and updated as of October 7, 2020). We hope the information below will help you make an educated decision on whether to do business with Liberty Lending Group.

  • Liberty Lending Group is not a lender.
  • The fine print at the bottom of the Liberty Lending Group website states, “You received this offer because you met certain criteria for creditworthiness. Although Liberty Lending Group is not a lender and does not engage in the business of lending, we have working relationships and contacts with a network of independent lenders (“Lenders”) who may be able to provide you with credit.
  • It appears that Liberty Lending Group is operating a typical bait and switch scheme. They lure you in by sending you direct mail with a “personalized reservation code” and a low 2.5%-4.5% interest rate to consolidate your high-interest credit card debt.
  • It isn’t too evident that you need excellent credit to qualify for a loan with that low 2.92% interest rate (which you have been supposedly pre-approved for).

Reviews and Ratings

BBB Complaints Lisa M – 09/02/2020 –

We just started the process of discussing options with Liberty Lending Group. Our representative’s name was Michael. I wish we had his surname, but this was by far the worst experience we have ever had speaking to anyone about lending options. The options available were reasonable and we would have otherwise considered them. However, Michael became abrasive and rude when we asked if we could move past the reasoning behind our debt (unexpected medical bills and wedding). Rude to the point that I hope the conversation was recorded and is reviewed because there is no reason to approach a customer in that manner. Now, it’s possible that something was going on in his personal life that pushed him to such an angered state. If that’s the case, we feel sorry for the state that he’s in, but that does not excuse one of taking that frustration out on their potential customer base. When asked about a lawsuit involving the CFPB and for more information on the program, the conversation became predatory. He belittled us for having debt resulting from medical bills, dismissed our questions, and ended up hanging up on us. I am still in disbelief of this experience and just want to warm everyone if this is considered an acceptable company practice.

Repeatedly insist I give SSN n DOB. But misleading info and rep’s condescension and refusal to answer legit questions about their loan qualification. I called on 4/23/20 re pre-selected letter in the mail. The letter clearly states “Call to apply”. However, it should read “Call to first provide all your personal information and authorization to do a soft credit inquiry and set up a call back time to discuss with someone else later”. Only when I questioned about the authorization of soft credit inquiry and when the rep asked for my SSN and DOB did the rep tell me she only schedules call backs and someone else would be contacting me about the loan offer. I told her I had questions. She said she could not help me with them and to wait for someone to call me back. First time given was the following day at noon. I asked for sooner and was offered later that evening. Didn’t get either of those calls but I sure did get a text message from a *****, advising me to complete the loan application online if I didn’t have any questions… Except I did have questions and with the exception of my SSN and DOB, I had already provided information and yet got none in return.

Trustpilot Complaint – Jeffery Hausauer – 04/27/2020 –

SCAM. It all starts with the company sending unsolicited advertisements to your home offering a $45000 loan at 6.5%. What the company wants to do is get your personal data and then negotiate your debt. Finally, your credit cards are canceled. If negotiation of debt and cancelation of your credit cards is your goal, negotiate with your credit card companies yourself and save Liberty’s fees.

Trustpilot Complaint – Henry Heinbuch – 02/11/2020 –

BEWARE! THIS COMPANY IS A WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING!!!

There are better ways to get out off debt than to put yourself in deeper debt and prolong the agony of being under the pressure of others. If this company was really trying to help people why are they charging them obscene fees and interest rates. Liberty Lending is a predatory lender who feeds off of desperate people. Don’t let them sweet talk you into payments for years and years to come. Ask someone in the lending field to analyze their offer before you accept any contract.

We urge you to do your own research and due diligence on any company, especially when dealing with your personal finances. The positive reviews seemed a little bit too generic.
